Second Thoughts (Beware: Ranting)

Posted by reverseharem7 on June 22, 2015 at 11:05 PM

"Ah-ah" or "Morning to Morning" is a great song but I haven't clicked the replay button like I have for "I'm Sorry", "No Perfume", or "Rocking." Not to say I haven't clicked it, but it's not with the same vigor as my favorite songs. All the vocals are great and I'm talking about you Ricky, but I didn't recognize Niel's voice until like 1.4 seconds later. It was like a delayed reaction. I heard this singing voice then realized it was Niel when the oNIELy voice (this is what I'm going to call it for now on) came on. Same with Chunji. He didn't stick out. It didn't quite feel like Teen Top. I hate to say it, but it feels more generalized. Less of Teen Top in essence. C.A.P.'s rap was on point though. SO. ON. POINT. L. Joe did great but I didn't focus on his rap much...I STILL LOVE YOU THOUGH L. JOE. I'M SORRY!!! Here's a discussion at the comments section that perfectly describes how I feel about this song right now. This is subject to change and who knows what I'll think about it tomorrow.

I completely agree with akiheavenly6. I feel the same way she/he does, but I also think that it's good that they're using this concept. When I was watching a live concert of "Rocking", Niel's singing was out of tune. It was just off. I'm glad that it's more stable and in tune for whatever reason. I know that their dancing is super involved and it's hard to sing AFTER DANCING THE FREESTEP. I MEAN, LOOK AT THAT.

EXACTLY.

In other live videos of "Rocking" Niel sings perfectly (I think. I can't remember but I'm 99.9% sure I'm sure it was perfect) so I don't know what happened. Anyway, I realized that they danced a lot. I love their dancing, but when 67% of the song is dance and the 25% is made of choruses (rap making up the rest of it), their talent as singers doesn't shine as bright as it should. I found myself wishing that they had a song to prove that not only could they dance, but that everyone could sing. I wanted a song that downplayed the dancing (that I enjoy so much. I know. I love it but it had to go) and played singing as a strength. And "Missing" gave Niel the opportunity to do that. "I'm Sorry" gave me that moment when I recognized Changjo's voice and I'm sure that "ah-ah" will do the same for Ricky. This is what I asked for and I'm glad that Black Eyed Pilseung decided to show off what music Teen Top can make. This really broadens their genre and (of course) singing.

In summary, "ah-ah" is a great song. Can't say I love it yet but this happens all the time. I think "meh" and watch something else only to replay what was "meh" a thousand times. I'm glad they gave singing the spotlight despite Teen Top being know for "knife cutting dances." It gives a chance to say "Hey! Not only can we dance; we can sing!" This trend of groovy songs has given Changjo and Ricky an opportunity to show off, and these are the right type of songs to use right now. However, I hope we can get an upbeat song (preferably from BraveBrothers) next year because Teen Top is so energetic and I want a song that gives off that vibe as well as giving all the members a chance at the spotlight. Teen Top, fighting!
