And So It Begins...

The first post I will upload is about...FOOD! It's probably the most anit-climatic thing ever, but this idea is what got me off my chair, into another chair, and creating this website. So food it will be.
I love macarons. They're just the most heavenly and delicate of all existing cookies. Some people describe them as a 'hamburger cookie', but I find this description too crude. The most effective way to know what a macaron is is to eat it yourself, but in case you can't buy one I'll attempt to describe it. The cookie has a smooth shell, alike the appearance of fondant with a little gloss. Surrounding the cookie on the flat side is a ridge. This is called the 'foot' and is seen on all proper macaron cookies. Inbetween two macaron cookies is a filling that connects the two together. The shells are chewy and light. Highly enjoyable! It is worth every penny it costs.
Lately, I've been watching Cupcake Wars, and I noticed that they introduce Chef Florian as a chef of Mad Mac Macarons. Naturally, this got me to looking up his company because, hello, macarons!
Anyways, on the website are a bunch of delicious looking macarons! Ranging from classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio to more adventurous flavors like passion fruit, macha green tea, and mango. By all means, the more adventurous flavors aren't exactly shell-shockers --pun intended-- anymore, but they're still more wild than their ancestors. Mad Mac Macarons is the top company in the macaron industry and the quality is said to be superb. The only thing holding me back is the price. A tray of twelve costs a whopping $20.00 while a tray of 48 is equivalent to $68.00! The tray of 48 is a great price since macarons cost at least a dollar each if not the normal $1.50, but when you're a logical person the price is still too hefty.
If you aren't tempted at all to buy these babies in bulk, I suggest going to you search up 'macaron shop'. Most urban cities have stores set up specifically for these deserts. It's something you have to experience if you're young and trendy. These cookies are so sophisticated and cute! And even if you're not young or a trend-follower (me), then at least have one because the macaron is a classic French pastry and a great experience. You may not even be able to say no to another!
If you're lucky like me and happen to have a HEB in your backyard that sells macarons, YOU ARE IN LUCK, MY FRIEND. I can safely say that my HEB bakes scrumptious macarons. I whole-heartedly enjoyed these when my mom bought them for my birthday. They look like a macaron, taste like a macaron, and feel like a macaron. They're not too sweet and the texture was just right! My favorites are the green macha macaron and the blueberry macaron. Weirdly enough, I have yet to taste the dark chocolate macaron, but that doesn't mean I can't praise how beautiful it looks! HEB knows how to make a perfect macaron and nothing will stop me from getting them. Not even the $1.50 price tag. Case closed.
